Previous university study can be at undergraduate or graduate level. Notre Dame has recently introduced an assured pathway to medicine through the Bachelor of Biomedical Science /Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Science (Honours) degree.

Available paths 

 

There are 2 paths to medicine at the University of Notre Dame, the standard graduate pathway and a newly introduced assured pathway through the Bachelor of Biomedical Science /Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Science (Honours). 

Path 1: University degree (any degree, any university)

There are no prerequisite university degrees and no requirement for your university degree/s to have been completed at the University of Notre Dame, so this means, if you have a degree from any recognised university, you can apply. The proviso is the degree must be less than 10 years old or have successfully completed a 0.5 FTE Graduate Certificate or equivalent/above study or studied at least 1 year at Bachelor Level.

Path 2: Bachelor of Biomedical Science /Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Science (Honours) (UND)

Through this path, students who meet UCAT, ATAR and interview requirements progress into the Bachelor of Biomedical Science /Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Science (Honours). From there, provided a GPA of 2.5 per semester is met, students are able to progress directly into the Doctor of Medicine degree.

 

 

How selection works

 

The selection criteria for University of Notre Dame medicine comprises a standard 2 stage process:-

Path 1

Stage 1: Applicants are ranked for an offer of interview based on your GAMSAT (30%), GPA (30%) and CASPer (30%) - CASPer being a newly introduced situational judgement test. The remaining 10% is able to be obtained based on your rurality, WA residency and through Higher Degrees by Research.

Stage 2: Your interview results (50%) are then combined with your GPA, GAMSAT, CASPer and any bonuses (total 50%) to determine offers of a place in the University of Notre Dame's medicine degree. Offers are campus specific.

Path 2 (Assured through the University of Notre Dame, Sydney)

Stage 1: Applicants are ranked for an offer of interview in the University of Notre Dame's Bachelor of Biomedical Science /Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Science (Honours) degree based on your UCAT and ATAR (the respective weightings are not disclosed).

Stage 2: Your interview results are then combined with your ATAR and UCAT determine offers of a place in the University of Notre Dame's Bachelor of Biomedical Science /Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Science (Honours) degree.
